You don’t always need a national search to find great people. Some of the most motivated, tech-savvy, and community-focused talent is sitting right here in our classrooms.
The NHS Job Fair is a casual, high-energy way to meet local students who are ready to work. Whether you need a hand for the summer rush, someone for a part-time role, or an apprentice to train for the long haul, this is your chance to meet the next generation of Nantucket’s workforce face-to-face.
True Local Talent: Hire people who already live here and love this island. Local employees usually stay longer and care more about the community they serve.
"Grow Your Own" Workforce: Start a relationship early. You can mentor a high-potential student and help them grow into your company’s culture from day one.
Fresh Perspectives: Our students are digital natives. They bring a natural comfort with social media and new tech that can give your business a modern edge.
Show Up for the Community: Even if you aren't hiring this second, being here shows that your business is a pillar of the community and a great place to work.
What we provide: Every registration includes one 6-foot table in the Hall of the Whale.
Pro-Tips for a Great Fair: To make the most of your afternoon and catch a student’s eye, here is what we recommend bringing:
The Hall of the Whale gets busy! Make sure students know who you are at a glance:
Look the Part: Bring a tablecloth and a banner so your booth feels professional and welcoming.
Give Them Something to Talk About: Everyone loves a bit of "swag." It’s a great icebreaker to get a conversation started.
The Family Connection: On the island, job hunting is often a family discussion. Give students something physical to take home—a flyer or a brochure—so they can talk it over with their parents later that night.
Speak Their Language: To really connect with our diverse island community, consider having a few flyers in Spanish, Portuguese, or Bulgarian.
A simple card is still the best way to make sure they don't forget your name.
Put a QR code on your card. If a student can scan it and go straight to your application page, they’re much more likely to follow through.
Things move fast at a job fair. Don't let a great candidate walk away without a next step:
Paper is Still King: Having physical applications allows students to apply right then and there while the energy is high.
Stay Organized: Bring a folder for all the resumes you’re going to collect.
The Sign-In Sheet: If you prefer digital applications, keep a simple sign-up sheet to grab their email addresses so you can send them a "Nice to meet you" link the very next morning.
Spaces fill up quickly and are assigned as you sign up. Don’t miss out on meeting the kids who will be the backbone of our local economy.
