Public Meeting: Coskata-Coatue Resilience Alternatives
On behalf of The Trustees and Nantucket Conservation Foundation (NCF), we invite you to join a virtual public meeting on May 27th (6:00pm to 7:30pm) to hear about preliminary alternatives for building resilience on Coskata-Coatue Wildlife Refuge (Nantucket). This ongoing work has been a collaborative effort between the two organizations and has focused on extensive site assessments and modeling to select nature-based techniques that aim to build long-term resilience of the barrier beach, particularly at the two most vulnerable sites within the refuge: Coskata Pond and the Haulover. A previous public meeting in 2024 detailed results of the site assessment and initial modeling work, and the team is now ready to present alternatives that have been selected to move forward into design, and ultimately implementation, at each site. This virtual meeting is open to the public, and The Trustees and NCF encourage community members, local government representatives, landowners, restoration practitioners, and researchers to join the meeting to ask questions and provide feedback on the alternatives presented.
