Get ready to grab your buckets and shovels because the 49th Annual NISDA Sandcastle and Sculpture Contest\, sponsored by Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce\, is back! Join us Saturday\, August 3rd\, 1:00pm - 4:00pm at Jetties Beach\, 4 Bathing Beach Road.\n\n\n\nHeld every August\, for the past 49 years at Jetties Beach\, this late-summer ritual is a favorite among participants and sandcastle admirers. Each year\, over 50 sculptures emerge from the sand and form teams vying for the top honors including crowd favorite\, People's Choice award!\n\n\n\nThe rules are simple - be creative! Highlights have included everything from Nantucket Lightship Baskets to VW Bugs. A visit to Jetties Beach to watch the sculpting in action or to view the finished sculptures at sunset is well worth the trip!\n\n\n\nTo be a sandcastle sculptor\, please remember to plan ahead. Pre-registration is necessary for a guaranteed space. Register early online at Nantucket Island School of Design and the Arts website HERE. You can also pickup a form from the Nantucket Chamber office at 0 Main Street\, 2nd Floor. In the event of rain\, the event will be held one day later on Sunday\, August 4th.\n\n\n\nThis is your chance to show off your sand-sculpting skills and create something truly spectacular.
