SUMMARY:A Conversation on Opioid Use & Stigma
DESCRIPTION:In collaboration with Health Resource & Services Administration (HRSA)\, the University of Rochester School of Medicine\, Recovery Center of Excellence will be on island\, Tuesday 10/08. Community members particularly those with lived experiences relating to opioid use  are encouraged to attend one of the conversations\, 12:00-2:30 or 5:30-8:00. The conversations will be held at The Dreamland and lunch or dinner will be provided. The facilitator\, Tedra Cobb\, MSEd\, has conducted one hundred thirty workshops across 25 states in rural communities.\n\n\nThe goal of Community Conversations on Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) workshops is to shed light on substance use disorder (SUD)-related stigma as a barrier to recovery and to collaborate with rural communities to develop local solutions that reduce it.\n\n\n\nIn the workshop\, participants:\n\n\n\n	Create a common understanding of the roots of stigma and recognize its impact on individuals\, families\, providers\, and their rural community \n	Explore negative and positive beliefs around SUD/OUD and recovery\n	Identify ways to overcome barriers to addressing stigma and to build a recovery-oriented approach to reducing it\n	Review support resources and connect with fellow workshop participants\, sharing knowledge and building networks to help reduce stigma in their rural community
