SUMMARY:State of Climate Change on Nantucket
DESCRIPTION:The Linda Loring Nature Foundation and the Nantucket Conservation Foundation collaborate to bring Climate Change awareness and education to Nantucket. Join Dr. Sarah Bois (LLNF) and Dr. Jennifer Karberg (NCF) in the Atheneum Great Hall for a presentation on Nantucket Climate Change impacts and adaptation. This talk will explore current impacts of climate change on Nantucket including sea level rise\, erosion\, rising groundwater\, and storm surge. We will explore the models used to predict these impacts and get a solid understanding of the terminology as well as the current and future island trends. Drs. Karberg and Bois will share their extensive knowledge about Nantucket's coastal ecology\, including an in-depth discussion of coastal processes\, climate change\, and what it means for Nantucket's coastal habitats\, current nature-based coastal resilience efforts\, and potential future coastal responses. Join us as we explore and discuss local impacts and actions on the island. Help us this winter to keep the education and conversation going!
