Join us for an incredible evening of wine and shellfish with Nantucket oyster farmer, Emil Bender of Hang Ten Raw Bar and Pocomo Meadow Oyster Farm and proprietor and wine director Chris Sleeper of Pip & Anchor.
Not only are Chris and Emil incredibly passionate about their crafts, they have both spent their lives honing their skills and continuously expanding their knowledge.
THE EVENING
We still start the evening off with a meet & greet, while you sip on a beautiful grower Champagne and nosh on an unlimited raw bar.
Next, we will sit as we begin to learn and taste with Emil and Chris. Share in Emil's lifetime of knowledge about Nantucket, it's waters and the abundance of stunning seafood that is harvested fresh. You will learn about the methods he employs for his oyster farm in Nantucket Harbor, see him demonstrate how to properly shuck shellfish, and how to put together a simple mignonette and other classic accoutrements.
As Emil takes you into the world of bivalves, Chris will introduce you to the wonders of grower Champagne, as well the impeccable chardonnay varietal from the famed-region of Burgundy, France. He will explain why each is a perfect pairing, and his thought process in choosing each wine. To round out the roster, we will have special guest, Michael Kilfoyle, of Vineyard Road Wine Importers join us! Michael is fresh off a trip to Champagne, and is ready to share his stories and knowledge.
