Joan Wilson-Godeau started coming to
Nantucket at the age of four when her parents
worked for a family that owned an estate in
‘Sconset. Eventually, her family settled on island
in a tiny neighborhood, which came to be known
as Codfish Park.
There are very few personal stories about this
gem on the eastern end of the island or about the
initially residents that made it a community.
Research states, “... domestics saw opportunity
in Nantucket and managed to stay, some in New
Guinea and others in a new settlement “under the
Bank” in ‘Sconset—a neighborhood that came to
be called Codfish Park.”
Come and listen to Joan as she shares personal
narratives on her childhood days, the families
that made this gem a community, and hear of the
many changes she has seen as a resident of
Codfish Park. This event will surely be insightful
