International Women's Day Breakfast & Panel

Join the Nantucket Island Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Nantucket Historical Association, and sponsored by Cape Cod 5, Friday, March 8th, 8:30 am - 10:30 am, 13 Broad Street, for our International Women's Day Breakfast & Panel! Enjoy an informational and impactful morning of networking and discussions around Nantucket women in business.

This year's theme is, "Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress." According to the United Nations, "...Achieving gender equality and women's well-being in all aspects of life is more crucial than ever if we want to create prosperous economics and a healthy planet. However, we are facing a key challenge: the alarming $360 billion annual deficit in gender-equality measures by 2030." (UN.org) Topics include, but aren't limited to:

Investing in Women, a Human Rights Issue
Ending Poverty
Implementing Gender-responsive Financing
Shifting to a Green Economy and Care Society
Supporting Feminist Change-makers

We'll also explore the impact of investment inequality and highlight the importance of protecting women and other marginalized groups.

Moderator:

Denice Kronau is a seasoned corporate executive and board member with over 35 years in leadership executive experience working for the world's leading multinationals including Siemens, Diageo, Kraft and Philip Morris.

Skilled at leading highly matrixed, global organizations, Kronau has help numerous C-suite positions throughout her career including CFO, CEO and Chief Diversity Officer. A recognized authority on the importance of personal and career fulfillment, Kronau is the author of "Falling in Love with Work" and is a frequent speaker on workplace happiness and women leadership. Kronau chairs the Finance Committee for the Town of Nantucket.

Panelist:

Joanna Roche serves as Executive Director for the Maria Mitchell Association (MMA), an organization dedicated to honoring the legacy of Maria Mitchell, a renowned pioneer in astronomy and a prominent figure on Nantucket. Through various programs, the MMA fosters community engagement and connection to the island's natural environment, encompassing its land, sea, and skies. The MMA was founded in 1902 and its the second oldest non-profit on Nantucket and has a long history of research and education focused on curiosity and hands-on learning.

With over thirty years of leadership experience in executive management, marketing, and operations, Roche has demonstrated a talent for driving financial growth and brand engagement. Roche serves on the Town of Nantucket's Finance Committee, Coastal Resilience Advisory Committee and is a co-founder of the Clean Water Coalition. She is passionate about lifelong learning, nature, and keeping up with her sons; Roche is dedicated to personal growth and environmental stewardship. A long-time wellness advocate, you can find her leading sound baths and meditation on Nantucket and beyond, creating opportunities for self-reflection and compassion.

Mayumi Hattori is a James Beard nominated chef and co-founder of Nantucket grocery store Pip & Anchor. Hattori earned her culinary degree from Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena and her Bachelor in Psychology degree from University of California Berkeley.

When Mayumi isn't trailblazing with her dogs Ella and Hank, she's searching for the best food from the closest source. She's a chef who cooks with integrity and passion for local ingredients. With her Spanish and Japanese background and decorated resume, she leaves it all on the table for her guests.

Libby Gibson, ICMA-CM has been Nantucket's Town Manager since 1995 and has been employed by the Town since 1988. She grew up on Nantucket, attended Nantucket High School and Wheaton College in Norton, MA, earning a Bachelor's Degree. She earned her Master's Degree in Public Administration in 1998 and is a Credentialed Manager through the International City Manager's Association. She is married with two grown children.

Pamela James-Bloise, RN MSN has been a Registered Nurse at Nantucket Cottage Hospital since 2005. She has had several nursing roles through the years in the hospital and is currently the Nurse Director of Care Management.

Pam earned her undergraduate degree in Biology and later studied Nursing at the University of Delaware in Newark. She was born in Jamaica and credits her formative years to the strong foundation of care, empathy and resilience that was instilled from her family roots there.

Pam is deeply connected to the Nantucket community, especially through her work with her church NLM, engaging youths and most recently as a board member of Our House. Pam is married to Keith, is the proud mother of Justin and feels like a mother to many other children in island. Pam is committed to be a voice of reason for those who need her and believes we can all make a difference in somebody's life.
