Public Meeting on May 27 for Coskata-Coatue Resilience Project - Trustees & NCF

On behalf of The Trustees and Nantucket Conservation Foundation (NCF), we invite you to join a virtual public meeting on May 27th (6:00pm to 7:30pm) to discuss options for building resilience on the Coskata-Coatue Wildlife Refuge (Nantucket). This ongoing work has been a collaborative effort between the two organizations. Our collaborative work on the Refuge over the past few years has focused on extensive site assessment, data collection, and modeling to design the best nature-based restoration options to build longer-term resilience of the barrier beach, particularly at the two most vulnerable sites that will also have a direct impact on access within the refuge: Coskata Pond outside beach and the Haulover.

Our previous public meeting in fall 2024 shared our initials results of the site assessment, data collection, and modeling of current and future climate change impacts. We now have a series of restoration alternatives design to reduce impacts in the short and long-term.

This virtual meeting is open to the public, and The Trustees and NCF welcome input from those that love and use the Refuge on the different options we are considering. Please join us to ask your questions and give us feedback.
