(Dec. 24, 2018) The Nantucket Chamber of Commerce held its annual Red
Ticket drawing Monday afternoon, making Christmas a little merrier for seven islanders.

Karl Smith took home the $5,000 prize, with a ticket he received from Island Carpet, and Robert Reid won a new prize this year, a $1,000 gift card from the Steamship Authority.

Winners of the $1,000 prizes, and the businesses that provided them the tickets, were Laura McCloskey (Marine Home Center), Caleb Gomes (Stop & Shop), Palliative & Supportive Care of Nantucket (Anderson Publishing), Scott Corbett (Swain’s Travel) and Joe Grause (Zero on Main on Centre).

The annual Red Ticket drawing is aimed at encouraging islanders and visitors to shop on the island, with participating Chamber members providing a ticket for each $25 spent.

This year, more than 700,000 tickets were handed out, representing more than $16 million in purchases from participating businesses during the holiday season.
