Mobile Crisis Intervention Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Mobile Crisis Intervention Manager is responsible for the overall Crisis Services for Fairwinds and also provides direct support services to individuals in crisis. The Manager is continuously evaluating the status of services and conducting appropriate planning and coordination of activities to ensure immediate attention to changing demands. The Manager ensures a high degree of ethical and professional standards are followed by all Crisis Responders.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinates all aspects of Crisis Services including crisis responders/clinicians as well as interaction with town, state, hospital, court, and emergency services.
- Acts as backup on a minimum of two crisis shifts per week.
- Supervises a team of Crisis Responders.
- Seeks ways to expand Crisis Services to increase revenue for Fairwinds.
- Coordinates and directs all transfers off-island with other clinicians and medical staff.
- Coordinates Urgent Behavioral Healthcare services; expands as indicated.
- Works to establish collaboration protocols for Nurse Practitioners and Psychiatrists in coordination with the Clinical Director.
- Participates in Community Relations activities as they pertain to Mobile Crisis Intervention (e.g., community events, trainings, etc.).
- Ensures outcomes measures for Crisis Services is completed timely and accurately.
- Assesses need and feasibility in collaboration with the Clinical Programs Director for adding island-wide programs (e.g., Intensive Outpatient Program, support groups, peer mentoring).
- Provides coverage for Crisis Responders as needed.
- Develops clinical protocol manual jointly with Outpatient and Clinical Programs Director and Medical Team to ensure adherence to protocols.
- Extra duties as assigned by supervisor or Executive Director.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in social work/psychology or related field required.
- 5-7 years of mental health counseling and administrative experience required.
- 1-2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience in crisis intervention required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES, QUALIFICATIONS, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of full spectrum of mental illness signs, symptoms and treatments, chemical dependency issues, and Evidence Based Practice issues required.
- Knowledge of community mental health resources on Nantucket and neighboring communities preferred.
- Knowledge of pluralism and diversity to work effectively with all people required.
- Ability to assess client mental health symptoms, service needs, social and self-care required.
- Ability to work independently in the field and use team resources/supervision to enhance performance.
- Excellent interpersonal skills required, including ability to establish constructive working relationships with clients, colleagues, and community service providers.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills required.
- Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in the application of policies and procedures required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required, including strong presentation skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage and prioritize multiple, often competing, priorities.
- Strong time management and organizational skills required, including ability to work effectively in crisis situations.
- Excellent judgment with the ability to independently solve problems and make decisions with little or no need for direct supervision.
- Must be able to perform CPR and safe crisis intervention using agency-trained protocols.
- Current, valid driver's license in state of residence and acceptable driving record required.
- Spanish speaking fluency is preferred; other languages are a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Professional office environment with travel to community locations on a regular basis (requires access to a vehicle).
- Flexibility to work after hours as needed.
- Sits at a desk for extended periods of time and performs long hours of work sitting at a computer.
- Requires manual dexterity and visual acuity for computer keyboarding and office equipment use.
- Visual ability to review detailed schedules and information.
- Physical ability to move around office area repeatedly throughout the day.
